T-Mobile is introducing a new initiative that makes devices repairs better for its customers. T-Mobile is upgrading 500 of its retail stores to support in-store repairs performed by its certified Assurant experts. Assurant is the insurance company that provides T-Mobile's device protection plans.
Starting on November 1, customers with the Protection 360 plan can use the T-Mobile Store Locator to find a location that offers in-store repairs. An online appointment tool will be coming soon as well and the repairs are performed by certified technicians with OEM-approved parts.
It's not explicitly mentioned which devices will be able to be repaired same day, and those repairs will also depend on the parts the store may have on hand. T-Mobile mentions that in the event where parts are not available, an Assurant-authorized repair center may offer a replacement device and collect the appropriate deductible depending on your protection plan tier.
T-Mobile's Times Square location in New York CityIn addition to a new repair center, T-Mobile is also increasing the amount of times a customer can make device claims through T-Mobile from three per year up to five.
T-Mobile offers two tiers of protection for its devices. Device Protection includes online claims, protection against mechanical, accidental, and water damage, loss and theft and up to six-months of additional warranty on the replacement device. Protection 360 includes full Apple Care Service, JUMP! Upgrades (which let you trade in a device after 50% of it is paid off, McAfee Security, ID Theft protection, and Unlimited screen protector replacements.
