Samsung seemed to validate pre-launch rumors of the Galaxy Z Fold3 having been developed as a Galaxy Note-series replacement, thanks to a reveal for this foldable phablet's own S Pen and S Pen Pro. However, the OEM did not manage to work an actual silo into the third-gen flagship.
Instead, the South Korean giant released an official flip case with a spine capable of holstering a stylus instead for the Z Fold3. This accessory proceeded to attract criticism since its release, mainly for its flappy front cover and reduced pocketabilty.
Therefore, many Samsung fans might hope its successor turns up with the ability to house an S Pen by itself, as a Note-series phablet can. However, the latest word via the leaks blog Naver is that this is not going to happen in 2022. Apparently, the OEM already has several candidate "Z Fold" prototypes, none of which fits a stylus within it.
This might be disappointing for some consumers. Nevertheless, Samsung is slated to have a non-Note phone with an on-board stylus in the works, and it will be here sooner: it may launch as the Galaxy S22 Ultra and be here by the start of 2022.
